HELP BUILD INDIA WATER TRAINING CENTER

A partnership with John Roberts Theological Seminary in Shillong, India has presented the opportunity for EDGE to build the first Water Training Center in the country. The Seminary has a acre of land and is willing to give EDGE a long term lease on the property where EDGE can build a building to house our EDGE team members, a conference/classroom and housing for those who come for training.
EDGE team members Dave and Robin Brothers in Shillong, India, have presented a proposal for building a minimum of a 3000 sq, ft building. The building would be built of bamboo which is the most cost efficient architecture for this region of India. The cost of the project is $50,000 and construction could begin as soon as the end of this year.
HOW THE EDGE TRAINING CENTER - INDIA WAS CONCEIVED
In October, 2009, 20 indigenous leaders from a 600 mile radius of Shillong gathered for an intensive two-day training at John Roberts Theological Seminary. Participants learned how to assemble and operate a water treatment system using salt and 12-volt automotive battery. They also learned and practiced important health/hygiene lessons including germ transmission, hand washing, and treatment of diarrheal disease.
Shortly after the training several participants installed water systems and conducted health education in the Indian states of Megalaya, Assam and Manipur. EDGE OUTREACH and seminary leaders quickly understood the the training's potential to save the lives of thousands across India.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The training center will consist of a 3,000 square foot building that will include classrooms, place to house students and instructors, a kitchen and secure place to store water purifiers and other valuable parts/tools. Located next to the building is an area for hands-on assembly/operation of water purification systems.
